How we make money

Your Crypto Guide is free to read because partners pay us. This page explains exactly how — in plain English, because you can’t judge our content fairly without knowing who pays for it.

The short version

We earn money in two ways. First, referral commissions: when you click a link or button (such as “Visit site”) to one of our partners and sign up or transact, that partner may pay us a fee. Second, paid introductions: when you submit an enquiry form on this site, we are paid by the partners we introduce you to. That is the business model, stated plainly: introducing you to a partner is how this site earns its revenue.

Both happen only with disclosure. Comparison and review pages carry an advertiser disclosure above the fold, and every enquiry form tells you — before you submit — who your details may be shared with, that those partners pay us, and how to opt out. Details of how your personal information is handled are in our Privacy Policy and Collection Notice.

What our compensation does — and does not — influence

Honesty requires both halves of this sentence. Compensation from partners can influence which providers appear on our pages, and where they appear — for example, which platforms we build dedicated review pages for, or which partners are available through an enquiry form. We do not compare every provider in the Australian market, and providers that work with us are more likely to be covered in depth.

Compensation does not change the factual information we publish. Fees, spreads, features and regulatory status are taken from providers’ published schedules and official registers, and the same figures appear whether or not a provider pays us. No partner can pay to have a risk warning softened, a cost omitted, or a competitor’s lower published fee removed from a table. Comparison tables order providers alphabetically by default and are sortable by you — never by payment — and any paid placement is labelled “Sponsored” at the placement itself. Our comparison methodology sets out these rules in full.

We do not give advice or recommendations

Your Crypto Guide does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence. We publish factual information and general education only — we do not give financial product advice, we do not recommend products, and we do not publish “top picks”, star ratings or ranked winners. Where a partner holds an AFSL (for example, a licensed financial adviser or SMSF specialist we introduce you to), any advice you receive comes from them under their licence, not from us, and we disclose at the point of referral that we receive a fee. The fact that a provider pays us is not an endorsement of that provider, and the fact that a provider appears on this site is not a statement that it is suitable for you.

The introduction model, step by step

  1. You complete a purpose-built enquiry form — for example, asking to be introduced to a licensed SMSF specialist or a registered tax agent. The form states, before you submit, which categories of partner may receive your details.
  2. With your express, unticked-box consent, we pass your name, contact details and enquiry information to up to three relevant partners. They pay us for that introduction — typically a fixed fee per enquiry or a commission if you become a client.
  3. Those partners may contact you about your enquiry within six weeks of your consent. They are contractually required to contact you only about the matter you enquired about, and only within that window.
  4. You can withdraw consent at any time via privacy@yourcryptoguide.com.au, and we never sell your details to anyone other than the disclosed partner(s) handling your enquiry. See the Privacy Policy for your full opt-out rights.

Who our partners are

We receive, or may receive, fees and commissions from partners in these categories:

  • Digital currency exchanges and OTC trading desks serving Australian customers
  • Licensed financial advisers and SMSF specialists (AFSL holders or their authorised representatives)
  • SMSF administrators and accounting firms
  • Registered tax agents
  • Crypto tax reporting software providers
  • Hardware wallet manufacturers and authorised retailers

Not every provider named on this site pays us, and appearing in a comparison table is not conditional on payment. Where a specific page involves a partner relationship, the disclosure on that page applies.

What we never do

  • Accept payment to rank a provider above another without a “Sponsored” label
  • Let a partner edit, approve or veto editorial content
  • Present an opinion as fact, or call a partner “the best” because it pays us
  • Share your personal information with anyone you weren’t told about on the form you submitted
  • Publish price or return forecasts, or describe any crypto asset or platform as “safe”
