About · Your Crypto Guide
Independent research, written for Australians
Your Crypto Guide exists to do one thing: provide independent research and plain-English education on digital assets for Australians — the facts, the costs, the risks and the rules, sourced from primary documents and re-verified on a published schedule.
Our mission
Digital assets sit at the intersection of three things most people find opaque: financial markets, tax law and fast-moving regulation. Australians researching them are met with hype, undisclosed sales pitches and content written for other countries’ rules. We publish independent research and plain-English education on digital assets for Australians — covering exchanges and their real all-in costs, the ATO’s tax treatment of crypto assets, the rules SMSF trustees must follow, and the changing Australian regulatory landscape.
Two principles govern everything on this site. First, facts over opinions: we publish verifiable information — published fees, documented features, actual regulatory status — and we do not tell you what to buy, where to invest, or whether crypto belongs in your portfolio at all. Second, risks beside benefits: wherever we describe what a product or structure can do, we describe what it costs and what can go wrong, with the same prominence.
Our independence
Your Crypto Guide is an independent publisher. We operate no cryptocurrency exchange, no trading or portfolio software, no managed fund or investment product and no SMSF administration service. We have nothing of our own to sell you, which means we have no product whose shortcomings we need to talk around.
We are not free of commercial relationships, and we won’t pretend to be. The site is funded by referral fees and commissions from some of the providers we write about, and by partners who pay us when we introduce them to people who submit an enquiry. That compensation can influence which providers appear on our pages and where — but it does not change the factual information we publish, and no partner can pay to be called “the best” or to have a risk removed from a page. The full picture is on our How We Make Money page, and the rules our comparison tables follow are on How We Compare.
Equally important is what we are not. Your Crypto Guide does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence, and nothing on this site is financial product advice, tax advice or legal advice. We publish factual information and general education only. Decisions about your money should involve a licensed financial adviser; decisions about your tax should involve a registered tax agent (tpb.gov.au).
Editorial standards
Primary sources only
Every regulatory, tax or fee claim on this site is sourced to a primary document: ASIC guidance and registers, ATO published guidance, AUSTRAC’s register of digital currency exchange providers, Treasury and parliamentary materials, and providers’ own published fee schedules and product disclosures. Where a figure cannot be verified against a primary source, we omit it rather than estimate it.
Monthly re-verification
Pages containing fees, costs or comparison data (“money pages”) are re-verified monthly against providers’ published schedules and the relevant registers. Each carries a “verified” date so you can see when its figures were last checked. The most recent full verification cycle was completed in June 2026. Fees and regulatory status change frequently — always confirm current figures with the provider before acting.
Corrections policy
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Material errors — a wrong fee, a misstated rule, an out-of-date regulatory status — are corrected as soon as practicable after verification, and significant corrections are noted on the affected page. If you spot an error anywhere on this site, email corrections@yourcryptoguide.com.au with the page URL and, where possible, a link to the primary source. We review every correction request and respond to substantiated reports.
Advertising never edits
Commercial partners do not review, approve or edit editorial content before publication. Sponsored or promoted placements, where they exist, are labelled as such at the placement itself — see our methodology for how ordering works.
Who writes and reviews this site
We are honest about where we are: Your Crypto Guide is a new publication, and named author and reviewer profiles — including their credentials and review history — are currently being onboarded. Until individual bylines and reviewer pages are live, every substantive page carries its verification date and cites the primary sources behind its claims, so you can check our work directly rather than take it on authority. Author and reviewer profiles will be added to this page as they are published.
